The Dominican Arts Project conducts hands-on, interactive workshops and in-services for classroom teachers in areas such as...
- multiple intelligences and the arts,
- using the arts to help teach across the curriculum,
- creating and using puppets to enrich teaching,
- integrating music and movement into grade-level literature and drama,
- creating scripts for Readers Theater or drama.
The in-services can be tailored to the your curriculum. An in-service can be scheduled for an hour to a half-day. It can also be combined with classes for students. All residencies and in-services are customized to the needs of the individual school.
For example, in November of 2005, a combination in-service and week-long residency was held at St. Joseph's School in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Each unit, primary - middle school, had classes Monday through Friday in music, movement, and drama. One afternoon we provided an after-school in-service to faculty on arts integration. On the last day, we concluded with a program demonstrating student learning.
