The Dominican Arts Project is committed to furthering education in the arts for children, especially for those who have limited opportunities for arts experiences, by helping them and their teachers bring the arts alive in their classrooms. This mission is carried out in three ways...
- by providing hands-on, interactive workshops and inservices for classroom teachers in such areas as multiple intelligences and the arts, using the arts to help teach across the curriculum, creating and using puppets to enrich teaching, integrating music and movement into grade-level literature and drama, creating scripts for Readers Theater or drama.
- by creating original musical plays that offer classroom teachers easy to perform, age appropriate, enjoyable musical theater experiences for grades three to eight
- by offering one to two week school residencies in music, movement, and drama

Carol Artery and Priscilla Wood created the Dominican Arts Project in 1992 as a response to the needs of teachers and students who had little or no access to or opportunity for school arts programs. They divide their time between providing one to two week fine-arts residencies and arts workshops, and writing their student-tested, teacher-applauded plays and programs. Carol is an accomplished musician and composer with a background in dance; Priscilla is a skilled teacher of drama, puppetry, and visual arts.
